A Hybrid Grammar-Based Approach to Multimodal Languages Specification
نویسندگان
چکیده
Multimodal interaction represents the future of human-computer interaction. It aims at enabling users to communicate more freely and naturally with automated systems. Current approaches to multimodal dialogue systems are based on two different strategies to perform the modality fusion. The former implements the multimodal fusion at dialogue management level, whereas the latter at grammar level. In this paper we propose a new strategy based on a hybrid multimodal grammar that puts formal grammars and logical calculus together in order to overcome the drawbacks of grammar-based and dialoguebased methods. Moreover, an application of the proposed approach in the context of a multimodal phone book is given and the experiments that we performed to evaluate the approach are described.

Multimodal Language Specification for Human Adaptive Mechatronics
Designing and building automated systems with which people can interact naturally is one of the emerging objective of Mechatronics. In this perspective multimodality and adaptivity represent focal issues, enabling users to communicate more freely and naturally with automated systems. One of the basic problem of multimodal interaction is the fusion process. Current approaches to fusion are mainl...
متن کاملHybrid Planning and Realization of Coherent Utterances for Multimodal Natural Language Dialogue Systems
The output of multimodal human-computer interfaces is what this thesis is concerned with. Rather than hard-coding graphical and spoken representations, methods are introduced that plan and realize coherent output, appropriate to the situation and the device. The generation system expects a modeand language-independent representation, as it can be supplied by the dialogue management component of...
متن کاملManipulation As an Ideological Tool in the Persian Translations of Ervand Abrahamian’s The Coup: A Multimodal CDA Approach
The present Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) study aimed to explore the probable ideological manipu- lations exerted in three translations of an English political book entitled The Coup by Ervand Abraha- mian. This comparative qualitative study was conducted based on Farahzad‘s three-dimensional CDA model. The textual, paratextual, and ...
متن کاملA Novel Approach to Conditional Random Field-based Named Entity Recognition using Persian Specific Features
Named Entity Recognition is an information extraction technique that identifies name entities in a text. Three popular methods have been conventionally used namely: rule-based, machine-learning-based and hybrid of them to extract named entities from a text. Machine-learning-based methods have good performance in the Persian language if they are trained with good features. To get good performanc...
متن کاملDemonstration of a Domain-Specific Language Debugging Framework
This demonstration presents a debugging framework that targets domain-specific languages (DSLs). The DSL Debugging Framework (DDF) generates debuggers automatically from DSL grammar specifications. The debugging concern is weaved into a base grammar in an aspect-oriented style. DDF was used to generate debuggers for three different types of DSLs (imperative, declarative, and hybrid) that are tr...
